Soul of the Sword - A Shadow of The Fox Novel by Julie Kagawa

 Summary

One thousand years ago, Kage Hirotika made a wish to the Great Dragon in hopes he would grant his wish. His wish was for the demon, Hakaimono who slaughtered his family, to suffer for eternity. So, the Great Dragon gave Hirotika a sword of rage and lightning called Kamigoroshi. Hirotika sealed the First Oni, which is Hakaimono's other name for eternity, or so he thought. After centuries of being stuck inside the sword, Hakaimono has escaped, and wants to continue what he did for thousands of years, which is terrorize and destroy the land and its inhabitants, but he is still cursed from the sword. Yumeko is a Kitsune shapeshifter and is supposed to take her piece of legendary scroll of a Thousand Prayers to the Steel Feather temple so that she put a stop  to the summoning of the Great Kami Dragon. The Great Dragon will grant a wish to whoever has the scroll of a Thousand Prayers. So, with Yumeko having a piece of the scroll, Hakaimono will plan and start to hunt her and group down, so that he can get a wish from the dragon. Will Hakaimono slaughter them all and bring an end to the world as they know it? Or will Yumeko deliver the scroll in time?

Rating

I give Soul of the Sword an 9.5/10, because it had some very interesting plot and characters. The only negative is that the book is quite long reaching 460 pages, however you will not regret reading it. If you like action, swords, and quests this book is for you.
